Self Isolation — Day One

“Blame it on Lido.”

March 22, 2020. Today marks the first day of our 14 day self-imposed isolation. It’s not the first time I’ve had to do this — more on that later.

Of course, we are not the only family having to do this. Dare I say, the majority of families around the globe have either already been through it, or are presently within it or are facing the fact, they too will be joining the masses of the unseen.

So, how did we get here?

I blame it on Lido. As in Lido Key, Sarasota, Florida. And much like the 1984 comedy Blame it on Rio with Michael Caine and very young Demi Moore, it was a series of events that has led to our banishment, although not for any of the creepy reasons.

For us, it started on March 12, 2020 when we boarded an Air Canada flight for our 10 day vacation in Sarasota Florida.

We arrived to warm weather and and a prediction of fantastic weather for our entire stay. We had no idea the tsunami of bad news was about to come our way.

COVID-19 also called the Coronavirus had been in the news fair bit. And it was starting to make its presence known within North America. While the numbers were low, we all knew those numbers were going to increase.
