Why this platform is the perfect place for people like me, and maybe you too.

I’ve been on Medium since December 2019. However, it’s only been this month — January 2025 — where I really started putting an effort into it.

There are a number of reasons why, and why now. I have always liked the idea, a place to come and express yourself. It also provided a complementary pursuit, using a different set of skills as a writer, compared to my daily life as a photographer.

Both are forms of expression and communication. You need to consider what you want to say and how you’re going to say it. The beauty with words is, you can always correct them. Pictures, it’s a little more difficult.

As far as why now, simply stated, I have the time and more importantly the desire. I am self-employed as an equestrian sport photographer. This is my off-season, and I’m just not the type of guy who likes to sit around.
