How was your 2024?

Did you hit all of those milestones?

Here we are again. The last page of another year. And while they’re obviously not, these years seem to get shorter and shorter as each one passes.

Or is it, I am trying to do too much and just run out of time? Regardless, December 31st seems to arrive before I am ready for it.

Now don’t get me wrong. The plans for tonight are in place, the outfit has been selected and there are only a couple of lines on my “to-do” list to get through and I’ll be ready. The penalty for not being ready is just not worth the risk.

Every December 31st I like to look back to the start of the year and review what I call my “top line” goals and objectives for the year. Think of it as more of the direction I hope, or plan to take for the coming year.

For me it’s a good exercise, not to be critical but rather accountable to myself and to make sure I am moving forward and hopefully improving with each passing year. A belief my father instilled in me many many years ago.

It’s also an important exercise. I am self-employed and while I have learned after more than 20 years of being my own boss I cannot control everything, there are lots of areas where I can have — hopefully — a positive affect on the outcome.
