Gavin Newsom is Fighting Battles on Two Fronts.
The Wildfires are not his biggest problem.
The images and video coming out of California of the Palisades fire are nothing short of shocking and heart breaking. To date, 24 people have lost their lives or are missing and more than 23,000 acres have burned.
The cost of the tragedy will be staggering too, more than 12,000 structures have been destroyed and over 105,000 residents are displaced. This years wildfires will certainly be the most expensive in history for the United States, with early estimates coming between $135–$150 billion.
While countries from around the world, including Canada and Mexico whom may well be in trade war with the United States very soon, have sent firefighters and equipment to the region.
For now, President-elect Donald Trump is content with pointing the finger of blame directly at Gavin Newsom and further ignore Newsom’s calls for Trump to view the fires for himself.
Even Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has offered 150 firefighters to assist California. And he is in the middle of a war with Russia. All the while Trump remains silent.
