Day 22 of 1461 days Trump will be in Office.

Tariffs and the Constitution seem to be at the forefront in President Donald Trump’s mind of late. The out-of-the-blue announcement of tariffs on steel and aluminum made on Super Bowl Sunday as the President was en route to the big game on Air Force One caught many, most notably, Canada, off guard. And while the tariffs do not come into effect until March 12, countries are scrambling to prepare their response. Financial considerations aside, the tactic Trump uses, described by former advisor Steve Bannon, as “flooding the zone,” creates a considerable amount of uncertainty with the USA’s trading partners. If this turns out to be another empty threat by Trump, it could further embolden those countries to find more stable governments to do business with.

Ask anyone other than President Trump, and they will tell you tariffs are nothing more than a tax, resulting in a potential increase in the cost of the item and potentially lead to increased inflation. If this wasn’t the case, then why would Trump allow Canadian oil to be subject to a 10% tariff when everything else out of Canada is at 25%?
