America’s Alienation
Is Trump reshaping the USA into a rogue state
President Donald Trump wants to see companies investing more capital in the United States. In a recent video call with leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland he taunted foreign manufacturers saying if they produce their products on USA soil, they wouldn’t be subject to tariffs.
The problem is, that Trump is making the USA a less attractive place for foreign investment.
Investment capital is liquid. It can be moved and invested in a place, whether through physical assets or shares of a corporation, where there is safety and an opportunity for a return, which reflects the amount of risk associated with the investment.
Political stability, or lack of it, contributes to the assessment of how safe and secure a specific region is for investment.
Through the use of executive orders, Trump is ridding the country of obligations he feels are contradictory to his objective or commitments he simply doesn’t like.
Elon Musk, too, is turning Washington upside down with his take-no-prisoners approach to cost-cutting of programs he feels are wasteful. Workers at government agencies affected by Musk’s decisions are describing their work atmosphere as fearful and madness.
